Avoiders are agile ships with well sustained shields and little firepower. Their strategy is to slowly chip away from the enemy ship and avoid any counterattacks.

Purgatory by Angel (Avoider)

General setup:

  • Wall of shields and weapons in the front
  • Omni thrust blocks at the back

Optional design choices:

  • Pretask can significantly increase your large shields sustainability.
  • General UL design. Energy weapon avoiders have an especially easy time pulling supplier crew even making ships with full crew detach possible.
  • Boost can get you out of sticky situations, or can even be used offensively to punish a weakness.
  • Mines are a very powerful tool to punish ships which attempt to get too close.

Piloting

  • Avoiders are very good at kiting, so that should be the default strategy to use.
  • The maneuverability of your ship means that asteroids will almost always be to your advantage. Staying close to can allow for more effective kiting or hit-and-run tactics. The enemy will also always have to be careful not to get stuck on the rock.
