An optional component placed between a railgun's Launcher and Loader. Each accelerator increases the projectile's velocity, damage, and penetration depth.
Railguns fire magnetically accelerated projectiles that can penetrate deep into enemy ships, causing great damage.
Each Railgun requires both a Loader and a Launcher, plus any number of optional Accelerators. Crew cannot walk from one side of a Railgun Launcher or Accelerator to the other.
The Railgun Accelerator Module is an optional component that can be used with railguns. Placed between a Railgun Loader Module and Railgun Launcher Module, they enhance the velocity, damage, and penetration depth of the resulting projectile.
Each individual accelerator module requires it's own power that must be delivered by crew via side doors, meaning a passage must be created up the entire length of the railgun. To gain the max 600m range, a minimum of 8 accelerator modules is needed.
If any part of the railgun is destroyed, the rest explode in a chain reaction, dealing a small amount of damage to surrounding tiles.
An unlimited amount of accelerators can be added to a single railgun, each of which will buff the output projectile, albeit with diminishing returns. The in-game table (replicated below) lists the buffs up to 30 accelerators, but the buff for longer railguns can be calculated using the formula Buff=20%*(X^0.8).
