Unstable builds are unfinished, which means they carry risks of bugs, crashes, and possibly even save corruption. They are intended for testing and providing feedback, and not normal play. Use at your own risk.

What Are Unstable Builds?

Unstable builds are early previews of upcoming Cosmoteer updates containing the latest features, improvements, and bug fixes. However, their bleeding-edge and unfinished status means they may be prone to bugs, crashes, and even save corruption in the worst cases. Only users interested in testing and providing feedback should install these builds because of these risks.

How To Opt-In

Unstable builds are available via the Betas feature on Steam.

To opt-in, right-click on Cosmoteer: Starship Architect & Commander in your Steam library list1, and click on Properties2:

This will open the Steam settings for Cosmoteer. Now click on the Betas1 tab and look at the top entry, named Beta Participation. The drop-down menu next to it will likely say Nome at this point2. Click on it, scroll to the bottom, and select unstable - Bleeding-edge updates; possibly very buggy!3.

You are now successfully opted-in, and your Steam client will automatically download and install the latest unstable release as if it were a standard update. You can now launch and play Cosmoteer just like usual.

How To Opt-Out

To opt-out, follow the same process as above, but change the Beta Participation drop-down to None. Steam will now download and install the latest mainline public release.
