Onset is a small and fast ship, using bidirectional thrust to kite away from danger, while dropping a barrage of HE missiles. It has armor all over its body, making it somewhat durable for its agility. Against slower ships, it may prove a real nuisance, but any faster vessel will be able to reach it. Once close enough, either focus on picking off the reverse thrusters to end its run and make it an easy target, or dig a small hole through the central frontal armor and literally cave a path to the reactor, ending it instantly. If you somehow have a ship faster than it at this point, or a very nimble flanker, it's easy to destroy it from behind or close range. PD and flak also proves extremely effective against its small, but constant, barrage.
