Due to its small size, the energy shield can be projected through the ship itself, allowing the Small Shield Generator to be built within the ship's protected interior.
The Small Shield Generator is a defensive part used by ships and stations. When active, it projects a small, arc-shaped energy shield capable of blocking most incoming fire. Though effective against lasers and projectiles, disruptive weapons such as Disruptors and E.M.P. Missiles can easily collapse the shield.
Unlike the Large Shield Generator, the small generator does not have to be exposed to the outside hull and can instead be built inside under the protection of armor.
Shields lose all power right before performing a hyperspace jump.
