Tactics

A ship with a rather weak defense that it makes up for with its offensive power. Its eight HE missile launchers can pack quite the punch, easily blasting into the sides of your ships while overwhelming shields. At the same time, missiles of your own will not be effective due to the long pieces of armor protecting Sepa's sides. In addition to this, the ship has a defended rear and four standard cannons, so how do we approach it? Simple: Slowly. Unless you have a lot of point defense on your backside, you should avoid having Sepa's missiles fly behind you, as they'll pile up into a group before slamming into your backside. Let your frontal defenses and missile defenses take the brunt of Sepa's assault as you advance - it won't try and outrange you, due to its cannons forcing it to stay close. While at first glance Sepa may have quite a bit of armor, it's actually rather thin, and more importantly, its standard cannons provide an excellent weakpoint to exploit. Fire at Sepa's standard cannons and then subsequently past them to shred through its missile launchers rapidly, and then do the same thing for the other side, which should end with Sepa's vital components exposed enough to destroy.

Interestingly, this opponent is surprisingly strong against most special tactics, as its primary armament of HE missiles can fire regardless of if it's being strafed, kited, or rammed. In fact, it can be quite problematic for kiters to deal with this ship unless they specifically use railguns, as it can match the range of anything else. Ramming Sepa's front is ineffective - it doesn't circumvent its defenses much and in fact only weakens your own offense and defenses by exposing your backside more and making it harder to focus fire on Sepa's weakpoints. Strafing Sepa can be effective, especially as it can't turn that fast, but you'll still need to work through some armor and avoid the swarm of missiles that will either be hitting you or collecting up behind you, depending on how quickly and nimbly you can strafe. Flanking Sepa allows you to destroy its control room, but you will have to go through some armor along the way, preventing flanking strategies from being an instant-win button.
