Desecrator is a tier 16 battleship used by the Fringe Systems Resistance.

Tactics

A decently tough late-game opponent. While Desecrator has heavy armor and a powerful assortment of six chainguns and eight deck guns, it isn't very good at firing them at moving targets. Its chainguns, being mounted on its sides, can't fire at ships that are thinner than Desecrator itself, and its deck cannons have difficulties targeting ships properly as they tend to get blocked by the deckguns in front of them. Additionally, four of them face sideways, effectively halving their range of movement against an opponent in front of Desecrator, and two of those sideways deckguns face each other, which, when combined with the presence of the other deckguns on the ship near them, effectively prevents them from shooting in any direction but forward.

Despite these flaws, Desecrator is still a dangerous ship, especially for ignorant players. Its sides are armored and its chainguns can easily fire out at any would-be flankers, so ensure that your flanking ships go around and specifically fire through its back, not its sides. If you can, prioritize destroying Desecrator's chainguns to open up room for your ships to move around - they're protected only by Desecrator's armored sides and four small shields each. Desecrator's frontal armor is slightly weaker down the middle - don't be fooled, as attempting to exploit this seeming vulnerability will fail to take out any more than two of its deckguns, and if you're carelessly using ions or chainguns, can cause Desecrator to split in half, making it significantly more dangerous.

Kiting Desecrator can work, but it is decently fast and might catch up once it has lost enough armor. Ramming Desecrator can be lucrative if you manage to slam into its side, but a frontal ram just ensures that you're getting the full force of all its weapons fired at your rammer. Orbiting around Desecrator is a good idea, as it will hamper its somewhat poorly-placed deck cannons. If you choose to orbit Desecrator, take out its chainguns fast, as they ignore point defense or flak, can easily track moving ships, and can deal heavy damage alarmingly quickly.
