Recusant is a tier 3 scout ship used by the Fringe Systems Resistance.

Tactics

A rather interesting opponent due to its six point defense guns, Recusant has the potential to be very threatening against some ships but falls off against others. Players using cannons or missiles will find it exceedingly difficult to deal damage to Recusant, while those using energy or hitscan weapons instead will find it relatively easy to deal with. To deal with Recusant's point defense shooting down your shots, it is advised to get close, as this makes it harder for the point defense to intercept the projectile in time. Ramming into Recusant's side is an excellent strategy - not only will this invalidate its point defense, but it will also prevent half of its weapons from firing, and gives you an easy shot into its reactor or cockpit. To ensure you can destroy its cockpit and preserve Recusant's reactor for salvaging, attempt to ram Recusant's left specifically - if you ram its right, you won't be able to destroy the cockpit, as the reactor will be in the way. Some ballistic weapons, such as flak, chainguns, or deck cannons, can outright ignore Recusant's point defense, but these large weapons are expensive and somewhat difficult to use in the early game.

If you're using energy weapons, Recusant's offense is not that threatening, and is particularly awful against shields due to its lack of a disruptor . You don't need to ram Recusant to hit your shots, but it will still assist greatly in destroying it; even if you aren't, it's best to strip off Recusant's weapons before going in for the kill - the weaker your defenses, the more weapons you should destroy before moving to finish it off. Because of Recusant's low-range weaponry, a fast ship can also kite it, assuming you have enough backwards thrust.
