Scrapknight is a tier 6 patrol ship used by the Fringe Systems Resistance.

Tactics

A decently challenging foe, but still quite beatable with the right approach. Disruptors are recommended to destroy Scrapknight's two flak guns quickly, as they are by far the most dangerous weapon on it. Cannons will be at something of a disadvantage against this ship, as their inaccuracy will cause them to miss more often, and the flak may intercept some of your shots while shooting at your ship. Shields and armor together is the best defense against this ship - the shields can take a few seconds of flak bombardment and the armor can cover for you when the shields go down to Scrapknight's disruptors. After destroying Scrapknight's flak, target its hyperdrive - being right in the centre of Scrapknight, it's the best choice for ensuring your weapons shoot down the corridor that connects Scrapknight's heavy laser to its reactor. Targeting its hyperdrive will allow you to circumvent the armor that partially protects Scrapknight's internals, making it much easier to destroy in a head-on assault. You can attempt to target Scrapknight's cockpit to salvage its reactor, but the positioning of both makes it very difficult to do so with any level of reliability, unless you want to dig through its heavy frontal armor.

Most approaches will be effective against this ship without being exceptional. Strafing and ramming Scrapknight's side will prevent some of its weapons from firing and concentrating their fire on one part of your ship, making it easier to destroy. Scrapknight is not particularly fast, so it can be kited easily, but note that, bereft of a ship to shoot at, its flak will shoot down your projectiles - While HE missiles will struggle against this, Railgun shots travel fast enough to avoid flak interception, and ions don't have a projectile to target. Interestingly, Scrapknight only appears to have well-protected sides - part of its side armor is actually corridor, making it about half as strong as it appears, and thus rather weak to flanking.
