Clockwork is a tier 15 cruiser used by the Fringe Systems Resistance.

Tactics

One of the more dangerous late-game Fringe ships, Clockwork is a kiter and thus relies entirely on moving backwards quickly while releasing a swarm of HE missiles. It is especially dangerous as all of its missiles are located on one side which will make them more concentrated. On top of this, its large armored head and eight flak batteries will defend it from ships that can fire back at range.

If you have a ship that can go faster than 93m/s, you can catch up to it - depending on your specific weapons and speed advantage you will want to either target the flak first (DCs) or the engines first (ions) as destroying Clockwork's head will cause it to speed up unless you can destroy its engines shortly afterwards. If you are using railguns, you can kite Clockwork back, as railguns have a longer range than missiles, and Clockwork's forward speed is extremely slow.

If you can't catch up to Clockwork, match its range, or outrange it, you'll need to surround it and use a flanker to circle around and catch it from behind. Alternatively, you can attempt to chase it towards friendly stations, bases, patrol ships, or environmental hazards that might slow it down.

Trivia

  • Clockwork is painted the same way as the other "clockwork" styled Fringe Systems Resistance ships, but it uses a very slightly different paint scheme - it's slightly brighter and more orange than the other clockwork ships.
